Ian has never managed to fit on our bed without his feet sticking off the bottom, so after Christmas we decided to be extravagent and invest in a super king size bed.
This shows the king sized mattress on top of the super king.
William enjoyed the temporary double mattress experience immensely.

I'm confused. Is it no longer - simply a lot wider? And, if so, won't Ian's legs still stick out or will you let him lie diagonally?
Need more William pictures please...
I agree that it looks no different. The web varies in it's definition of a king vs super king (doesn't help that US is different to UK), but Ian definitely fits on this one better. As for lying diagonally, there's space for us and William to do so without bumping into each other!
Lucky William to have bigger pet bed than Milly.. :D
Um, I too am confused. My immediate reaction was the same as your Dad's. My reaction is still the same as your Dad's. How can Ian possibly fit lengthways onto this mattress if it is the same length as the original one? I fit into my New Zealand queen size bed more easily than my Scottish double bed (modern not original which was about 6" shorter and only 4'6" wide - the Scots were hardy but wee) but I'm nowhere near as tall as Ian.
You see. Post about a bed which we all relate to and everyone has something to say.
Why has my photo disappeared? Can you see it?
I agree it's confusing. Might be something to do with the type of bed - the other had slats and a frame whereas this is a box. Maybe the fact that we now have no headboard means that he can be higher up in the bed?
Yep I can see your photo!
Thanks for that. I wonder why I can't see my photo. Not that I really need to. I'm usually somewhere nearby so I rarely need to know what I look like.
